Today is the last chance to walk the Hurvínek Trail
Today marks the end of the extraordinary Hurvínek Trail, which this year became part of the liberation celebrations. The project has so far attracted hundreds of visitors and commemorates a significant anniversary – 100 years since the first performance of the character Hurvínek, which took place on May 2, 1926 in Pilsen on the stage of the Puppet Theatre of Feriální osad as part of the performance Rudolf Nešvara's House of Honour.
The interactive trail was prepared by the artistic director of the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre David Janošek in collaboration with artist Kateřina Coufalová. It introduces visitors to the dramatic fate of puppeteer Josef Skupa during World War II, including his resistance activities and the circumstances that led to his imprisonment by the Nazis. The trail thus shows Hurvínek not only as a symbol of entertainment, but also as a reminder of courage and cultural resistance during the occupation. The route begins at the Puppet Museum, where a playing card is available. It then leads along Bedřich Smetana Street to Smetana Park and includes ten stops with information panels and competition questions. After completing the route and submitting the completed card at the museum, child participants will receive a small reward. The trail is open to the public only until 6 p.m. today.
