The Wild Land project presented archaeological finds from World War II in Pilsen
A unique event entitled “Archaeology of the Second World War in the Pilsen Region: Americans in Pilsen and the Surroundings” came to life on Saturday, May 2, in the building of the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of Arts of the University of West Bohemia in Sedláčková Street. The all-day program that the Department of Archaeology prepared for the public was created thanks to close and excellent cooperation with the military history clubs KVH Tommy & Yankee z.s. and the Army Nurse Corps. Visitors could enjoy a rich thematic program, the core of which was a series of expert lectures focused on war events in the region. There was also great interest in the commented display of authentic objects that were found during archaeological research in locations associated with the Second World War in the Pilsen Region. The event, which was implemented as part of the Jan Amos Comenius Operational Programme (OP JAK) project “Wild Land: Archaeological and Transdisciplinary Research into Resilience Strategies in the 20th Century”, was of interest and the organizers were pleased with the high participation. The project is supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic and co-financed by the European Union.
