The 16th Armored Division Military History Club will build a popular authentic military camp

As part of this year's Liberation Festival, Pilsen's Křižíkovy sady will once again be transformed into a living history venue. The Military History Club of the 16th Armored Division is preparing a period camp here, which will offer visitors a unique insight into the everyday life of American units. Two hundred participants in uniform will be involved in the operation of this authentic camp, who will make sure that visitors feel like they are in the middle of the liberation days.

The heart of the camp will be a display of dozens of pieces of original American military equipment from the Second World War. A variety of heavy and light armored vehicles, as well as workshop and transport equipment, will be on display. However, the camp is not designed solely as a static exhibition of machinery. Its goal is to show the army's comprehensive logistical support, so visitors will be able to see a fully functioning field kitchen with period equipment and field workshops in the gardens, where vehicle maintenance and repairs will take place right in front of the public.

The atmosphere of the camp will be complemented by detailed military quarters for men and officers, a military police station and other necessary facilities that soldiers needed on their journey through Europe. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore what real life in the field was like and learn more about the history of the unit that made an indelible mark on the history of the liberation of Pilsen. You can visit the period camp of the 16th Armored Division in Křižíkovy sady from Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 4. On Friday and Saturday, the camp gates are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
