Proluka comes alive with swing and rhythms of the 1940s
Lovers of swing, period atmosphere and dance should definitely not miss a visit to Proluka this year. This is where the popular 40’s Stage will be set up, which will transport you to the era of liberation and unbridled joy of music for three days.
We will start the Friday program in a folklore spirit with the Mladina ensemble, and then smoothly transition to traditional jazz performed by the Liberation Band – a formation that meets symbolically only on the occasion of the Liberation Festival. The highlight of the evening will be a large swing dance hall with the local Pilsner Jazz Band, where immortal hits by Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington will be played. If you are not sure of your steps, do not despair. Every day, lecturer Lenka Sekaninová has prepared lightning-fast Lindy Hop workshops for you, where you will learn the basics of swing in no time.
Saturday in Proluce will offer fresh jazz from Jazz-friendly and honest Dixieland performed by The Dixie Hot Licks. The early evening will belong to the vocal genre DooWop and the band Dům Doobie Doobie Band. The atmosphere in the park circuit will also be complemented by the street brass band Hoppy Brass during the afternoon, which will bring the mood of seaside New Orleans to Pilsen.
On Sunday afternoon, seasoned jazzmen N. O. Outsiders will get you dancing, and there will also be a final dance lesson for the public. Křižík's parks will also be enlivened by playful interpretations of folk songs performed by the Šumaři. Come and enjoy the unique period mood, learn new dance steps and celebrate freedom through movement.
