During the Liberation Festival, traffic in the center of Pilsen will be restricted, including the closure of Klatovská třída

The upcoming liberation celebrations, which will take place from May 1 to 6, 2026 and will culminate in the traditional passage of the Convoy of Liberty military column and a commemorative act at the Thank You, America! monument, will require significant traffic and security measures. Residents and visitors to the city must expect complete street closures, parking bans and changes to public transport routes. Some measures will come into effect as early as Wednesday, April 29. The City of Pilsen therefore recommends that visitors limit the entry of passenger cars into the city centre as much as possible. The centre of Pilsen will experience the greatest traffic load on Sunday, May 3, when the Convoy of Liberty will pass through Klatovská třída.

The main artery of the city will be closed in both directions in the U Trati – Rondel section from 8:50 a.m., including exits from side streets. From 10 a.m., the closure will extend to Majerova Street. The restrictions will affect all tram lines, most trolleybuses and many bus connections. Tram line No. 1 will be replaced by bus services in the direction from Bolevec, will go to the final station Goethova and will then be operationally shortened to the Rondel stop. In the direction from Slovan, the final station will be Anglické nábřeží. Tram line No. 2 will have the final station Anglické nábřeží, in the direction from Skvrňany, Palackého náměstí.

Parking bans and closures in the historic center
The first restrictions will come into effect in the middle of the week.
At the latest, from April 29 to May 4, a parking ban and complete closure will apply in Lochotínská Street. During this period, the park behind the Plzeň Plaza shopping center will also be completely closed overnight (always from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.) for security reasons.

Other significant restrictions will affect these locations:
Pobřežní ulice and Pětatřicátníků will be completely closed and parking will be prohibited from May 1 to 4. Entry to the Nové divadlo parking garage will only be possible from the direction of the General Patton Bridge.
In the historic center, parking will be prohibited and closed on Dřevěná (from April 30), Dominikánská (May 1–3), and in Kopeckého and Šafaříkovy sady. Pětatřicátníků will be closed to traffic in the Prešovská – Bezručova section of the streets and a parking ban will apply from the afternoon of April 30 to May 2.

Measures for the memorial service Thank you, America!
The traffic regime will also change in connection with Wednesday's memorial service.
Starting Tuesday morning, May 5, the U Práce public transport stop (towards the railway station) will be relocated below the intersection with V Šipce Street. On the day of the event itself, May 6, trams on line no. 4 will only pass through the U Práce stop until 3 p.m. On this day, lanes on Klatovská třída and Americká Street will be partially or completely closed.

Recommendations for visitors
Given the extent of the measures, the city of Pilsen recommends that all visitors limit the entry of passenger cars into the center as much as possible.
The ideal alternative is to use the P+R parking lots and public transport. Detailed information about changes in transport is available on the website www.slavnostisvobody.cz.
