Historical legends will dominate the skies above Pilsen. Classic Trainers will commemorate the heroism of pilots
The Liberation Festival program will also offer a unique opportunity to see the machines that decided the fate of Europe in action. This experience will be provided by the Classic Trainers group, a team of volunteers united by respect for history, the smell of gasoline and the effort to keep famous aircraft in airworthy condition. With their activities, they want to commemorate the time when brave men and women in these machines faced the challenges of war and fought for our future.
True legends will appear in the Pilsen sky: the iconic P-51D Mustang fighter, Harvard Mk.II and Boeing B 75 Stearman training aircraft, or the Stinson AT 19B/Reliant Mk III transport aircraft. This historic squadron will be presented to the audience twice. The first time on Friday from 7 p.m. in the park area behind the Plaza and the second time on Sunday around 11:30 a.m., when the machines will symbolically fly over a column of historic vehicles during the Convoy of Liberty.
The Classic Trainers performance is primarily a tribute to Czechoslovak pilots, our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who risked their lives for our freedom on the battlefields of World War II.
