During the Liberation Festival, the steam locomotive Šlechtična will return to the tracks of the Pilsen Region

The upcoming Liberation Festival 2026 will once again be enriched by popular nostalgic steam train rides, prepared by the Pilsen Region and Integrated Transport of the Pilsen Region in cooperation with the Iron Monument Club Pilsen. During the long weekend from May 1 to 3, a historic train set led by the majestic locomotive Šlechtična will travel to various corners of the region. On Friday, the train will set off on a route from Pilsen via Horažďovice to Sušice, on Saturday it will head to Přeštice, Mirošov and Kozolup, and Sunday's program will be closed by rides to Plas, Stod and Blovice. An interesting feature of Saturday's program will be a passage through the Ejpovice Tunnel, where the steam locomotive must be assisted by a motor engine due to safety regulations. Passengers will have the opportunity to ride in historic cars nicknamed Baika or Osmidveřák. Tickets will be sold directly on the train for cash payments according to a special tariff, while the regular IDPK tariff does not apply on these connections. Prices vary depending on the length of the route; For example, a trip from Pilsen to Sušice will cost an adult 150 CZK, while shorter sections, such as the ride to Kozolpy, cost 40 CZK. Railway fans can find detailed information about train lineups and exact timetables on the IDPK.cz website in the Nostalgia section. However, the operation of historic machines may be affected by technical circumstances or current weather, especially in the event of a drought warning.
