Run for the Memory of Nations

This sports and social event organized by the nonprofit organization Post Bellum will allow participants to symbolically run in honor of a specific story—for example, in honor of the soldiers who liberated Pilsen, members of the resistance, or loved ones who stood up to totalitarian regimes.

Runners can choose between 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer timed races; there are also children’s races and a 1-kilometer family run, in which the families of veteran liberators traditionally participate.

Schedule:

8:30 AM – registration

9:30 AM – start of the 5 km race

10:30 AM – start of the 150-meter children’s race (children under 6)

10:40 AM – start of the 300-meter children’s race (children 7–12)

11:00 AM – start of the 10-kilometer race

12:30 PM – 1-kilometer run with veterans’ families

1:00 PM - Awards Ceremony

A full day of accompanying activities for children and families will be available. Visitors can look forward to games, contests, and other activities organized by the Krašovská Center and the Gorily Plzeň floorball club, among others. American-style refreshments will also be available, commemorating the liberation by the U.S. Army.

By participating in the run, people will support the Post Bellum organization, which documents the memories of eyewitnesses and, through the Memory of the Nation project, preserves the stories of the 20th century for future generations.
