Findings from research on the American evacuation hospital

Archaeologists from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen will participate in the Liberation Festival program again this year. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, they will open their laboratory at the Faculty of Philosophy at Sedláčková Street 38 to the public, where they will present the results of last year's field research focused on the remains of the 109th evacuation hospital of the US Army. Visitors will have the opportunity to look into the work of archaeologists and get acquainted with the findings related to the activities of this US Army medical unit during its journey through Europe. On display will be, for example, found parts of uniforms, items related to the operation of the hospital, and small artifacts that help illustrate the everyday life of a military medical facility during World War II. The laboratory will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
