There will be American wreckers at the Liberation Festival
A gathering of civilian American cars manufactured in the second half of the twentieth century will take place on Saturday, May 3, as part of the Liberation Festival. The center of events will be concentrated in the DEPO2015 area. During the day, however, some of the cars will drive through festively decorated Pilsen. A rich accompanying program is prepared for the general public. The rarest pieces, especially from the 1950s to 1970s, will be placed in the former bus hall. Among others, the following unique pieces are certainly worth mentioning: Hudson Hornet Twin H Power in two-tone paint (1952), Pontiac Laurentian (1960), Cadillac De Ville convertible (1958) or Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu (1967) "said the chairman of the organizing association Vladimír Jarošík. Dozens of pieces of honest Detroit iron will populate other areas of the DEPO2015 area. Some of them, specifically 40 cars, will set off towards Republic Square after 1 p.m., where they will occupy it until approximately 3:30 p.m. After the concert performance of November 2nd, for which they will be a new backdrop, they will leave for DEPO2015 again. Another group of cars will drive from DEPO2015 to the courtyard of the Pilsen brewery. Visitors to the Freedom Festival will also be able to enjoy a musical program at DEPO2015. From 10 a.m., DJ Jirka Hrůz will play retro American hits, in 11 and at 5 p.m. the band St. Johnny will perform. "Visitors to the area can look forward to pin-up beauties in retro dresses, Indian dances, discussions on stage with fans and owners of vintage cars, or the announcement of a competition for the loudest exhaust and the best car," added event co-organizer Michal Kanta. There will be a children's zone and refreshments, the menu of which will include American burgers, honest ribs from the smokehouse, fried fries, langos and a selection of lemonades and microbreweries. The end of the event is scheduled for 9 p.m. Admission for the public is free.
