The deadline for submitting applications for the General George S. Patton Honorary Scholarship is February 28, 2026!
The main change is an increase in the financial reward for the recipient to $2,000!
The General George S. Patton Honorary Scholarship is awarded to one of the students of schools in the Pilsen Region (no longer only to students studying in Pilsen) who are in their penultimate or final year of high school or in their final year of vocational training.
The student has decided or is deciding to serve in the army, in the security forces, or in public service (e.g., police, fire protection, emergency services, healthcare, teaching, social services, humanitarian work, church service, and other public services, etc.).
The applicant's school selects and completes the application form on the scholarship website - https://laviolettefoundation.org/schola.../czech-application.
The applicant independently prepares and submits the specified attachments to the application and prepares an essay to be sent to sohpilsen@gmail.com, all by March 16. In addition to academic performance, values such as selfless devotion to others, striving to make the world a better place to live, sacrifice, willingness to devote oneself fully to a good cause, and honor are also important prerequisites for the award of a scholarship.
In the essay (no longer than 750 words), the applicant will describe the following topics:
Which of the above values describe you and why?
Why is serving society important to you?
Have you been involved in any activities, do you have any experience, or have you experienced any events related to these values?
What are your wishes and plans for the future in relation to the above-mentioned values?
The scholarship will be announced during the Pilsen Freedom Festival, between May 1 and 6.
