Happy heavenly 100th Birthday to Tom Ingram, veteran, liberator of southwestern Bohemia, and member of the famous 90th Infantry Division
Today we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tom Ingram, veteran and liberator of southwestern Bohemia, 90th Infantry Division, 359th Regiment, Company F.
John T. "Tom" Ingram served in the army for almost two years. He was drafted right after high school. Tom Ingram said, "I was 18. I couldn't vote, I couldn't even buy a bottle of beer. But I was old enough to die for my country."
As a member of the 90th Infantry Division, Tom Ingram served in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and Czechoslovakia. He fought in the Ardennes and helped liberate the Flossenburg concentration camp in the spring of 1945.
On January 31, 1945, Ingram earned the Bronze Star in the Battle of Winterspel in Germany during a German counterattack consisting of four tanks, heavy machine guns, small arms, and mortar fire during a mission to capture the town of Wallmerath in Germany.
In 2015, Tom participated in the Pilsen Freedom Festival.
He passed away four years ago.
