Four years ago, Marion Kirkham, a member of the US Air Force during World War II and one of the faces of the Freedom Festival, passed away at the age of 99.

In 1990, he commemorated his brother Virgil Paul Kirkham for the first time near Trhanov. Virgil was killed in action here as the last American airman over Europe on April 30, 1945.
